My most recent university project is about well-being and I’ve chosen to focus my project on the well-being of children and how colour and pattern is used to make children feel happy and safe. I have found out that children like bright, bold colours. This is because, in their early years when their eyes are still adjusting to colour, they can only see primary and secondary colours. Children don’t like pastel or muted colours because they are boring ad they can’t really see them.
The first colour we see is RED!
I found out that children need to be creative to be able to have a happy well-being, they have a wonderful imagination and to be creative uses that imagination in the best way. Children also associate colour with certain foods – red strawberries or apples for example.
Children recognise patterns naturally (for example; a daily sequence). New born babies learn through sound and sight.
In my project, I am going to be focusing on texture and using bright colours. I am also going to explore different types of interesting materials and different techniques such as, glow in the dark dye, reflective dye and puff binder, etc.
