My new project is focusing on sport, I have chosen 3 activities and will make 2 samples for each activity that will form the mini collection of 6 final samples. My chosen activities are RUNNING, CYCLING and SWIMMING.
For my materials research into these 3 activities I went to a sport shop and looked at the different sections and read the labels to see what the clothes were made of.
RUNNING:
(NIKE) Top: 84% polyester, 16% elastane.
(NIKE) Sports bra: (body) 88% polyester, 12% elastane. (lining) 88% polyester, 12% elastane (DRI-FIT).
(SPORTFX) Jacket: 100% polyester extreme light weight jacket.
(ADIDAS) Leggings: 77% polyester, 23% elastane.
SWIMMING:
(HOTUNA) Wetsuit: 90% neoprene, 10% polyester.
(ADIDAS) Swimming costume: (main body) 78% recycled polyamide 22% elastane. (lining) 100% polyester.
CYCLING:
(MUDDYFOX) Trousers: (body) 79% nylon, 21% lycra. (front panel) 100% polyester.
(MUDDYFOX) Top: (body 1) 93% coolmax, 7% lycra. (body 2) 90% coolmax, 10% polyester.
I then took photos with the flash on to see what clothing items have 3M reflective parts on it. I found out that it was mainly the cycling clothes that had the reflective elements on.
