For my project REBEL TARTAN we are also focusing on being sustainable with the processes and the materials we use. We are going to use organic cotton and use the digital printer as it uses less dyes and less water. For our sheer layer we are going to use some fabric that I sourced from a charity shop if we can use it in the laser cutter.
I got a book out of the library about sustainability in fashion called THE PRACTICAL GUIDE TO SUSTAINABLE FASHION.
There are a few case studies in this book which are really interesting. The first is the "Sustainable Earth Sweater" by Iniy Sanchez. She produces knitwear that are made from one continuous piece of three so it can be unravelled and reused.

The next case study is the Marks & Spencers "Shwopping campaign". They are working with the UK charity, Oxfam. The encourage people to donate their clothes to them so they can reuse, resell or remanufacture them.
The next case study is Patagonia. Patagonia are well known for having life long products and they also repair products for people. Their "DONT BUY THIS JACKET" advert was to get people to not keep buying clothes but for people to fix what they have got and to help save the environment.

The next case study was "AW11 Denim Mix Suit Jacket" by Junky Styling. They deconstruct and transform unwanted clothing and make new garments out of them.

The next case study is the "North Face Zero Waste Project". They wanted to make a jacket with the typical North Face look but reducing the fabric wastage.
